Cloth Simulation in CG for Mastercard
The main focus of this scene’s graphics was cloth simulation.
We ran multiple experiments with textures, wind direction, and airflow intensity.
As a result, the once static frame gained motion and visual expressiveness.
The fabric came to life thanks to carefully designed lighting that highlighted its movement and surface detail.
Cloth simulation is one of the most demanding tasks in CG: fabric has to react to wind, gravity and light so naturally that viewers never notice the shot was made on a computer. We tune the strength and direction of air flows, the density and texture of the material, and then build lighting that emphasizes the movement of the folds.
